The Emory University Office of Spiritual and Religious Life (OSRL) is honored to assist the Emory community with responding to the passing of students, faculty, and staff members when appropriate. This page contains family funeral and campus memorial service information when OSRL is assisting a family, friends, and the university community with responding to the death of a member of our university community. Information about pastoral care, grief and loss support, and memorial services is also available on the OSRL website.

Emory University expresses its deepest condolences on the passing of Emory Rollins School of Public Health student, Saron Bekabil.

Students, faculty, and staff who would like offer or receive support may contact the OSRL contact, The Rev. Maddie Herlong at mhend25@emory.edu. An initial community support gathering will take place on Tuesday, March 17 at Noon in R340 for faculty, staff or students to drop in for support. This is an informal and voluntary gathering for students to find solace and connection as we grieve this tremendous loss.

Emory University chaplains are available Monday through Friday from approximately noon to
2:00 pm during term in AMUC Suite 125 to offer pastoral care and meet with students, faculty, and staff. All are welcome to visit any chaplain. Drop by office hours or schedule time a chaplain by contacting them directly here.
