Caroline Penfield

Program Coordinator

Caroline Penfield joined the Office of Spiritual and Religious Life at Emory University as Program Coordinator in July 2022. As part of the Office of the Dean and reporting to the Chief of Staff, her responsibilities include supporting OSRL communications and programming. Working closely with the dean, chaplains, staff, interns, and students, she supports religious and spiritual life programming including pre-orientation, outreach events, and interfaith and signature programs. Her duties also include representing OSRL through various communications, overseeing daily operations in the AMUC 125 OSRL office suite, and supervising student workers.

Prior to joining Emory, Caroline worked in Elon University’s Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life as an undergraduate Multifaith Intern and Office Assistant. At the Truitt Center, she served as the director of the Ripple Interfaith Conference and worked with chaplains and student groups to facilitate religious and spiritual festivals and interfaith programs. Caroline also spent a summer as the Development Intern for the Interfaith Council of Metropolitan Washington. In this role, she assisted in developing and promoting a new monthly donor campaign focused on supporting the inclusive interfaith community in the D.C. area.

Caroline received a Bachelor of Arts in Policy Studies and Political Science from Elon University in North Carolina. In addition to spiritual and religious life, Caroline was involved in Residence Life, working for 3 years as a Resident Assistant and Apartment Manager, and the Student Government Association. She served as Elon’s Executive Treasurer, overseeing the funding of more than 200 student organizations and programs. Caroline was a member of the Isabella Cannon Leadership Fellows and Phi Beta Kappa, the national honor society for the liberal arts and sciences. She is passionate about mentorship and incorporating meaning-making into personal and professional development.

Caroline enjoys exploring the outdoors, seeing live music, watching college football, and spending time with friends. She is originally from Birmingham, Alabama.
